Perhaps Love

I have happy news to write about.
For one of my best friends
has finally found the one
she has been searching for.

To say he is to be
the greatest love of her life,
it’s too early to say.

And to say that she’s
deeply in love with him,
it’s still hard to say.

But this I know I can say.
He is a very good guy
and that is what she needs
and should have in her life.

He makes her laugh in a way
that I have not seen in awhile
and she is almost always smiling now,
I'm excited that she found him.

And I am so glad for her
for it happened when
we all least expected it.

When she had already
given up on love.

So perhaps love happens
when you’re not looking for it.

Perhaps love happens
only when you are not
walking around with
your heart on your sleeve.

Perhaps love needs
a bit of nudging
and a bit of shuffling around.

But we all know that when it happens,
the sun shines differently.
And when it rains, it no longer pours.

She’s found love.

And I am glad.
