No Man Is An Island

I keep telling myself
that life will get better,
but I've yet to see that happen.

As much as you like to believe
there are people behind you,
people will always let you down
sooner or later.

For this reason
I never expect much anymore,
and I find it very hard
to believe people who try
to have me believe
that there could be
people who might not
let me down.

No man is an island,
but we came into
this world on our own,
and when it's our time to go,
we leave this world alone.
