Every time I read this I love it.
It reminds me so much of how my life feels…
she is right on the money with how
we seem to live our lives,
though some people never get to chapter three…
they just get to chapter two
and get stuck there like a skipping record.

There's A Hole In My Sidewalk
By: Portia Nelson
AUTOBIOGRAPHY IN FIVE SHORT CHAPTERS
CHAPTER ONE
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in. I am lost….I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find my way out.
CHAPTER TWO
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
CHAPTER THREE
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it there.
I still fall in…it's a habit…but,
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
CHAPTER FOUR
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
CHAPTER FIVE
I walk down another street.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
It's really a challenge to find
another street to tread
cause old habits are hard to die..
I know so cause I have a lot of habits
I sure wish that I could change
time and time again.. Let's see..
There's one being a procrastinator,
which really aint a big help when
it comes to setting priorities..
Another for being an introvert,
which may perhaps be viewed by others
as being a loner or a snob.
Well, there's also me for being afraid
to get hurt by love that I tend to build
walls around me, only to find myself
in the end alone and lonely.
You see, I could enumerate
a lot more about me
that I wish I could change that easily.
I fall in the same pitfalls
over and over again..
Am I still in chapter two
in this point of my life??
You know what I wish for??
It's that we'll succeed in this journey
of finding the right street to follow..
When most of our lives has been lived,
hopefully we could look back
where our footprints have been,
and see that we have learned
to chose another pavemet to walk on,
perhaps a better one than the one before..
So now I ask you this..
Which chapter are
you in right now???
It reminds me so much of how my life feels…
she is right on the money with how
we seem to live our lives,
though some people never get to chapter three…
they just get to chapter two
and get stuck there like a skipping record.
